About Aswan International Airport

Aswan International Airport (IATA: ASW, ICAO: HESN), also known as Daraw Airport, is an airport located 16 km southwest of Aswan, Egypt. It was built in 1956 and upgraded in 1992 and 1999 by the Egyptian government.[3] Aswan airport was established in may 1956 with costs about half million Egyptian pound to serve tourism movement in Aswan it was operated during day only in 1982 it was operated with assistance lights as airport would be operated during day & night. In 1992 the airport was expanded to accommodate increase number of passengers international hall & Abu Simble Hall. In 1999 the president "Mohamad Husni Mobarak" opened a new terminal on area 120,000 squares with capacity 3200 passenger per hour the airport costs about 250 million Egyptian pound. The airport is located about 20km away from west aswan city. The airport receives about 954507 passengers per year from different nationalities.
